1. I get repeated messages stating This program has known compatibility issues. Why is this happening and how do I get rid of it?
With the June 22nd Windows Update for Win7, Microsoft updated a message intended to alert users if they have a copy of FastAccess facial recognition software that is too old support Win7. You received the FastAccess software on your Dell system when it was originally shipped with Vista. Unfortunately, this Microsoft alert message can be difficult to close.
There are a few simple ways to correct this issue. Either option will work, however updating the software ensures you have the best performance and latest features.
Hide the Microsoft message:
This is ideal if you have never used FastAccess.
1. Check the box in the lower left corner labeled “Don’t show this message again”.
2. Click the “Run Program” button. This step is unintuitive, but required to prevent the message from reoccurring.
Update your software to a Win7 compatible version:
Click here to download version 2.4.95 of FastAccess. This installer will only function on a machine with an existing, older installation of FastAccess. If you are an Alienware customer, do NOT install this update. Alienware customers click here.

The version of FastAccess that comes with your SX2210 monitor can be installed on any computer. In order to perform the installation and later to run the software, your SX2210 must be plugged into that computer and the integrated camera must be both installed and functional.
If the monitor and camera are not plugged in and installed correctly, you may see an Error -3.

5. During the update of FastAccess I received the error message "A client update is required, however the source folder is not writable. As a result the update will abort." What can I do?
There is a known issue with version 2.2.X of FastAccess that prevents a successful update on 64bit operating systems while UAC (User Account Control) is on. To update in this situation turn UAC off, reboot, perform the update, reboot again and then turn UAC back on. Note that once you perform this procedure and the update is successful, you will not have to perform it again for future updates.
To turn off UAC, perform the following:
- Go to the Windows “Orb” menu (lower left) and select “Control Panels”
- Select “User Accounts”
- Click the link called “Change User Account Control Settings” in Win7 or “Turn User Account Control on or off” in Vista
- Move the slider down to the bottom – “Never Notify” in Win7 or uncheck “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” and hit “OK” in Vista.
Alternately, click here to download an update installer for version 2.4.95. This installer will only function on a machine with an existing, older copy of FastAccess already installed.

6. I've already updated to Win7 but with a version of FastAccess older than the required 2.4.7. Now I see a message saying that "FATrayAlert.exe" is crashing. Can I still update FastAccess?
FastAccess version 2.4.7 or higher is required for Win7 compatibility. If you are running an earlier version and are unable to reach the FastAccess management console by the normal means, you may still be able to update FastAccess. Go to the Windows “Orb” Menu > All Programs > FastAccess Facial Recognition > “Check for updates”. Follow the prompts to download and install the new version (if any) and reboot.
