Sensible Vision’s patent pending facial recognition technology is the result of years of refinement. While facial recognition technology has been around for many years it has had little commercial success to date. One reason is that it’s often been touted to do much more than is practical with today’s cameras and computer systems.

In recent years, facial recognition technology has been applied to identify terrorists and criminals in large crowds. Finding a terrorist who might be wearing a disguise within a very large group of people in real time presents a significant technical challenge for both camera technology and the recognition software. If the facial recognition system fails, it either will improperly identify an innocent person or even worse, let the terrorist pass.

Sensible Vision has narrowed the definition of what facial recognition is best suited for: specifically, to provide better access control and authentication to PCs. Instead of comparing hundreds of terrorists' images to millions of faces, FastAccess compares one user to possibly several thousand other users. We can set a very high standard for facial matching since the worst failure will be that a user will need to enter their password to access the PC. However to provide fast, and accurate recognition to a PC, Sensible Vision has also developed the patent pending Continuous Adaptive Sensing (CAS) technology for facial recognition.
