What data is collected – and why?

The Diagnostic Upload and Generate Diagnostic Report features collects general information about the operation of the FastAccess Software.  It can upload this information either automatically, if Allow Diagnostic Uploads is enabled, or manually, if you choose to Generate a Diagnostic Report and send it to us via the Internet.  The information is used to generate aggregate statistics about how FastAccess is performing in the field and in the case of the manually generated diagnostic report, may provide specific failure information related to a product problem.  In each case, we use this information so that we can improve our products and services. This information includes:

• Computer make, model, amount of memory, speed and manufacturer of the CPU
• Version information for the operating system
• Login/locking and unlock statistics with the date and time of the action
• Statistics about the biometric template database
• Sensible Vision product name and version
• A crash log if the computer recently experienced a crash.

Your Internet Protocol (IP) address is logged when you automatically upload the data, but this address will only be used to generate aggregate statistics.

How is this data used?

Sensible Vision periodically reviews the aggregated information in the Diagnostic Uploads to improve the performance of our products.  In the case of a user generated manually Generated Diagnostic Report, where a contact email is provided, our support staff will review the information and contact you to assist with any necessary resolution.

If you have additional questions about the data being sent to us, you can view a sample of the information the automatic Diagnostic Upload will collect from your computer.  Note the data provided is sample data only—the actual data will be unique to your machine.  In the case of the manually generated Diagnostic Report, you will be given the opportunity to review the actual information before you send it.  If Allow Diagnostic Uploads is enabled, you may view a graphic presentation of upload information by accessing the Usage Statistics in the FastAccess Management console.

These reports are sent at your option and you may choose to not send any information to Sensible Vision Inc.  Please note that the demonstration versions of FastAccess have the Diagnostic Upload feature turned on by default.
