Most recent USB cameras will work well with FastAccess. There are a few technical considerations if you use your own camera, rather than a camera supplied by Sensible Vision. Poor camera performance can adversely affect the recognition speed and overal functionaliy of FastAccess..
- The camera’s driver must be stable and reliable.
- The camera should have good exposure for the lighting environments it will be operating in. In particular, it should provide an evenly lit image of the users face without strong shadows.
- The camera lens must be wide enough to provide a good view of the user’s face as they operate the computer. A desktop camera may not be ideal for laptop use. For best performance, the user’s face should occupy no more than 1/3 of the visible video window.
- The camera’s base should allow mounting as recommended in the Quick Start Guide and Installation and Use Manual.
- Some camera will require the selecting of the DirectShow Driver in the FastAccess Management Console, see page 28 of the Installation and Use Manual.
